Let’s go on an adventure !

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

Suppose we all work together and have high expectations for our children and young adults. In that case, I wholeheartedly believe that we can build a positive community with hope, encouragement, love, and education. My adventure began with that belief and want!

I am so excited that you have decided to go join the Exceptional Learning Squad and me on a new adventure. The Exceptional Learning Squad, Kevin and Kloey, are my dreams come into reality.

As a teacher for more than 18 years, I have noticed the gap between classroom learning and real-life home practice, particularly in children with Autism. The team and I designed the Exceptional Learning Squad to create an inexpensive, evidence-based solution to bridge classroom learning to home practice by giving parents and caregivers the tools to help children and young adults navigate real-life world situations.

I have a passion for seeing all children and young adults live life to their fullest potential. I believe that when given the correct tools, everyone can reach their personal level of independence. What is more remarkable than seeing a child succeed? I have seen so many times in my teaching career where people may say that child cannot do that! And my question to them is always, “what have you done to help them succeed?”

The Exceptional Learning Squad app contains a social story and a picture schedule based on everyday life skills and interactions. Social stories are a way of sharing information about events that may occur during a social situation. Picture schedules are the steps expected to happen during a typical real-world situation. By combining these two practices in an easy-to-use format, children and young adults will experience decreasing anxiety by understanding expectations. Lower anxiety leads to decreased meltdowns.
